AVSSU is replacing its current executive. The following positions are holding elections. 

Campaigning will take place March 23 9AM to March 28 11PM
Voting will take place March 29 9AM to March 31 5PM

President (1)


Presidents table executive board meetings, manage finances with the VP Internal and VP Student Life, and represent AVSSU at the UTSU. 

Presidents are also responsible for the day to day management of AVSSU. 

Commissioners (2)


Of Equity
Commissioners of Equity represent AVSSU members' concerns and social justice issues regarding, but not limited to: age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, ability,citizenship, nationality, ancestry, and personal, political or religious beliefs. This includes listening, responding to, and interacting with the voices of AVSSU members. Advise AVSSU members of inclusiveness and equitable representation, and keep up to date with current social justice issues. This includes recommendations of improvements related to equity and accessibility to facilities, programs, and services at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. Organize and facilitate equity training for the governing body to be completed following the September elections.

Of Health and Wellness
Commissioners of Health and Wellness coordinate AVSSU's participation in Intramurals, produce wellness reports, publish these reports, ensure properly stocked first aid kits and adequate blade disposals, and advise and promote health and wellness resources provided by UofT, Daniels and the UTSU.

Vice Presidents (5)


Communications
VP Communications handle meeting minutes, publishing the minutes to our website, creating a communications strategy, manage AVSSU's social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and manage AVSSU's website.

External
VP External represent AVSSU at UTSU meetings, report to UTSU committees or commisions that they are part of, serve as a point of contact between AVSSU and external organizations and table meetings with external organizations.

Internal 
VP Internal manages AVSSU's financial accounts, prepares and publishes the budget, act as liaison between AVSSU affiliates (Shift, AALD, Daniel's Arcade), prepare reports of AVSSU activities, collect committee chair reports and archive all reports.

Academic
VP Academic tables representative board meetings, act as liaison between representative and executive boards, and represent AVSSU at faculty meetings. 

Student Life
VP Student Life crates a student life strategy (events, gatherings, etc.), form a committee , documents meetings of the student life committee, manage finances alongside the President and VP Internal. 

Elections Rules

  • Candidates may only campaign between March 23 at 9AM to March 28 at 9PM
    • Posters may stay up during the elections but electronic and in-person campaigning in other forms must stop
  • Candidates may only make campaign material in English
  • Candidates may campaign on all UofT Property excluding residence buildings
  • Candidates may campaign online

Elections Timeline

MARCH 10
  • Executive elections are announced.
  • A call for candidates is sent out.
MARCH 22
  • Deadline to submit campaign statement is at 5 PM.
​MARCH 23
  • Candidate campaign statements are placed on the AVSSU website.
  • Candidates may begin campaigning at 9 AM.
MARCH 28
  • Candidates must stop campaigning by 11 PM.
MARCH 29
  • Online voting for the executive elections begin at 9 AM.
MARCH 31
  • Online voting for the executive elections begin at 9 AM.

Chief Returning Officer (CRO)

The Chief Returning Officer (CRO) is a person designated to oversee elections. Their primary duty is to create monitor the elections and voting. The CRO also ensures that candidates are following election rules.
